
What is the Young Farmers Program?
The Chicken Farmers of Canada’s Young Farmer Program is a professional development program that teaches young leaders in the chicken sector about governance, succession planning and personal branding, while also getting to network with key agriculture and government stakeholders. It also helps young farmers better understand the sector and gives them the tools to succeed. Every year, five young farmers from across the country will be selected to participate in the 18-month program.
Am I Eligible?
Eligible farmers must:
- Be between the ages of 18-40
- Be in good standing with their Provincial Board
- Have some experience with community involvement
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and participate fully
- Have, or be willing to develop a social media presence
- Have quota or a reference letter from a quota holder
What Does it Entail?
Participants will have the opportunity to attend training, interactive meetings, and events. Attendance at the following events is required
- Chicken Farmers of Canada AGM and Joint Annual Reception in Ottawa
- *March 24-26th, 2026 and/or 2027
- Orientation meeting in early spring
- *April or May 2026
- Chicken Farmers of Canada Annual Summer Meeting in Alberta
- *July 12-16th, 2026
- Lobby Day and Board of Directors meeting in Ottawa
- *October 20th, 2026

Deadline
The deadline to apply is November 3rd, 2025 (Applications close on November 3rd, 2025)
When Will I Know?
All applicants will be notified regarding the status of their application by January 16th, 2025.
