Sweet and Sour Chicken

Ingredients

  • 6 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • 1 1/2 cup (375 mL) brown sugar
  • 3/4 cups (175 mL) vinegar
  • 3/4 cups (175 mL) water
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) mustard
  • 1 cup (250 mL) ketchup
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 3 tbsp (45 mL) cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) cold water
  • Instructions

    1. 1 Combine all ingredients except cornstarch and water in a large casserole dish, place chicken in sauce.
    2. 2 Cover and bake for 1 hour at 350°F (175°C).
    3. 3 Mix cornstarch with 1/2 cup (125 mL) of cold water; thicken sauce with this when removed from oven.
    4. 4 Serve over a bed of rice and mixed vegetables.
